Threats to Environment: Natural threats and human threats

 Introduction

Not all the changes to the planet's ecosystems are perceived as problems. Only those that affect us are, particularly those that affect us now. All our problems are caused by only us.
Ecological problems grow faster than the rate of population and the growth of world 🌎 economy.

Threats to the Environment

There are many threats to the Environment. These threats are divided into 2 categories. Natural threats and Human threats. Natural threats consists of earthquakes, volcanic eruption, landslides and cyclones.

Human mediated threats consists of deforestation, destruction of habitat and pollution.

Natural threats

Earthquakes

Earthquake is a trembling or shaking movement of the earth's surface. Most earthquakes are minor tremors. Larger earthquakes usually begin with slight tremors but rapidly take the form of one or more violent shocks and end in vibrations of gradually diminishing force called aftershocks.

Volcano

A volcano is a vent in the Earth's crust through which gases, molten rocks or lava and solid fragments are discharged. This study is known as volcanology. Volcanoes are described as active, dormant or extinct.

Landslide

A landslide is a rapid slipping of mass of earth or rock from a higher elevation to a lower level under the influence of gravity and water lubrication.

Human mediated threats

Deforestation

Deforestation is the conversion of forested area to non forest ed areas.
In other words, deforestation is the result of the removal of trees without sufficient reforestation.

Agents of deforestation

The agents of deforestation can be individuals or groups of individual that are clearing the forest. Commercial farmers, slash and burn farmers, cattle ranchers and loggers are all the agents of deforestation. Agents are usually acting in thier own self interest.

Pollution

Pollution is the contamination of the environment as a result of human activities. The term pollution refers primilarly to the fouling of air, water and land by wastes

Conclusion

As I said in the introduction the human mediated problems are caused by us and it can also be solved by us. To solve these problems we must take care of the environment.
Environment conservation is essential to our survival.
